The back is un-glazed and finished in a natural shade with runs of glaze from the top.
The back is glazed in a light blue.
These clam shells are unique, I make each one by hand, one at a time, from porcelain clay and glazed with my special glaze.
. . . What's so special about Crystalline Glaze Pottery?.
The crystalline glazing process is a combination of science and art. It requires many extra steps beyond that of typical glazing. Foot rings and catcher trays are required to ensure each piece will fire successfully.
The failure rate with this type of glazing can be high; however, when you have a successful firing, you can get results that are fantastic! This makes this labor intensive process all worthwhile.
Crystalline glazes are formulated special to grow these crystals in the glaze. When all the conditions are perfect, these crystals will grow at about 2000 degrees F. As a result of this type of glazing technique, no two pieces ever come out the same, and you can never duplicate any one piece.
The crystals are permanent and will not fade over time.

Care instructions
All our glazes are food safe, lead and cadmium free.
Dishwasher and microwave safe, unless they get a fracture crack, like all pottery this can expand with moisture and heat.
Crystalline Glazes are durable and the crystals will not fade over time.
We do not recommend storing acidic foods in crystalline glaze pieces.
However, like coffee stains, they can be bleached out.
Packing and Shipping
Please make sure that we are shipping your order to a secure location. We cannot take responsibility for stolen packages.
I pack my pieces in layers of bubble wrap inside a strong box. I take great care to ensure items arrive safely. If it arrives damaged, please contact me right away. I will need photos to submit for insurance.
All orders are shipped via USPS within 1-3 business days of purchase unless otherwise noted.
You will be notified upon purchase of the exact shipping date and will be notified again when the item ships.
If a package fails to reach you in a timely manner, please refer to the shipping notification I sent upon shipment.
Returns and Refunds
I do my best to accurately depict and describe the items in my shop and I ask that you keep in mind that all items are one of a kind, made by hand and by nature have imperfections and variations.
If you are unhappy with the items that you receive, please contact me within 14 business days to arrange for a refund or exchange.
All items must be returned in good condition in original packaging in order to qualify for a refund or exchange. You will be provided with packaging instructions.
Credit will be refunded upon safe receipt of returned items.
Buyer is responsible for damage in transit.
After 14 day grace period, all sales are final.
In the event of a stolen package, refunds will not be provided.
